If any of the items are missing from a document at the time of Recording (when applicable), a document may not be recorded. Please call our office at (815) 941-3224 with questions.
Real Estate Transfer Tax:
The Recorder’s Office provides NO LEGAL ADVICE. Any legal questions regarding real estate records, liens, real estate transfers, etc., should be directed to an attorney.
The Recorder’s Office provides NO DOCUMENT SEARCH SERVICES. Our records are open to the Public, so you may come in and search for yourself. Otherwise, please contact a title search company.
Subdivision PlatsPlats submitted for recording are subject to 24-hour review and verification process.
Physical Requirements for Submission
The Grundy County Recorder’s Office is now processing Form PTAX-203 through MyDec. (October 2015)MyDec is a free, online program that the Illinois Department of Revenue has developed for your use. This website allows the user to file Transfer Tax Declarations online, and view Declarations already created. Additionally, users can track the status of, and make corrections to the Declaration during the recording process.
We invite individuals, law firms, settlement agencies and financial institutions to sign-up to use this new system.

We feel offering our customers this new service, along with e-Recording, will greatly enhance and streamline the recording process. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Recorder’s Office at 815-941-3224.

- Must be on Mylar, Linen, or Velum and prepared in black ink.
- No larger than 24″ x 36″
- Two (2) 24″ x 36″ paper copies of the original plat OR
- An additional fee of $3.00 per page to make copies in house.
